Applications for our 2026 Winter/Spring Cohorts are now LIVE!
Applications are due February 17th.
We are now accepting applications for Wakaya’s 2026 Winter and Spring Cohorts!
Wakaya: Rising Up for Native Health is a free wholistic wellness program for Native youth. Over the course of six weeks with two meetings per week, participants will find fellowship among other Native youth determined to grow into good ancestors. Each cohort will participate in cultural activities, do physical activities across Northeast Oklahoma, and learn how to implement wholistic wellness into their lives as individuals and community leaders.
Due to the nature of our program, applicants will be randomly assigned to participate in either the Winter or Spring Cohort. (We make exceptions for household relatives, who we can make sure get assigned to the same session). The Winter Cohort takes place from late February until early April, at which point the Spring Cohort will begin.
In order to participate in Wakaya, applicants must be middle or high-school students who identify as Indigenous. In addition, Winter and Spring Cohort programming will take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Applicants may reside outside of Tulsa, but they must be able to commute to Tulsa regularly for programming.
We look forward to seeing your applications! To stay up to date with Wakaya news and updates, please make sure to follow us on Facebook.
